Cariñena Wine

The Cariñena denomination of origin centres its production n a total of 14 municipalities in South Zaragoza, in the lower Somontano of the Ebro Valley, between the Huerva and the Jalón rivers and the hills of Algairén. A total of more than 20,000 hectares, at the foot of the Iberian System, at an altitude that ranges from 500 to 850 meters.

The vineyards of Cariñena have been established in a land that is softly rolling, with ochre, gravelly soils that turn green, characterised by scarce fertility, but with excellent permeability and sanitary conditions.

Cariñena strains have traditionally been Garnacha Tinta, Mazuela or Cariñena and Juan Ibáñez, among the red rapes, and Macabeo or Viura and white Garnacha among the white strains. In the last years, the red grapes Tave been Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon and the white Parellada, which has allowed to adapt productions to the current trends in consumption, widening, besides, the range of wines.
